International Back-to-Back Wool Challenge!
Time & Location
About the Event
Due to COVID-19 we were forced to abandon our original date. However, we were able to get the go-ahead from the organisers to run it later in the year! That suits our woolly team members (and our not woolly team members too). Officially, the 2020 International Back-to-Back Wool Challenge has been cancelled, but we say 'flock it' we'll do it anyway!
So, this year 'For Sheeps Sake!' will return to the pretend-competition and try and beat their 2019 time: 14 hours 55 minutes 10 seconds. Our hope is to have more teams pretend-compete so grab your buddies and get in touch.
What the heck? I hear you say... well, our story begins all the way back in 1811 where a £1000 wager was made to make a jumper straight from the sheep’s back to a man's back in only one day. The coat was completed in 13 hours and with much quaffing of beer to celebrate. Now the Back to Back Challenge has become an international competition like The Relay for Life for the wool world.
We plan to have exhibits, demonstrations, games, food… maybe even some wool dyeing. So, watch this space for more info about the Back-to-Back here at Morunga. We will kick-off the challenge at 8am, however feel free to come along anytime during the day and stay for as long as you would like.
FREE entry, but we hope ewe'll feel generous with the raffles and donation buckets. ALL funds raised will go to Camp Quality and with support from The Freemasons Charity we want to blow their knitted socks off with it.
This event is proudly sponsored by Freemasons NZ and The Freemasons Charity.
